PROGRAMME
Surrounded by architectural treasures, the Valley of the Temples is one of the most evocative sites in the Greek world and one of the most important complexes outside Greece. We will visit the temples that rise on the high ridge, along the Via Sacra and discover the magnificence of the Temple of Concordia, which has been converted into a Christian church in the 6th century and for this for this saved by much of the devastation that has plagued the site over the centuries. You walk through the ruins of the Temple of Zeus, the largest temple built by the Greeks, destroyed to build the port of the nearby city of Porto Empedocle. Named as one of the 10 beautifully unique beaches by Tripadvisor, the Scala dei Turchi cliff, similar to a large natural limestone staircase between two fine sandy beaches. The Scala dei Turchi has a wavy and irregular shape, with not rough but gentle and rounded lines. The name derives from the past raids of Saracen pirates, conventionally called by locals as "Turks", these pirates in fact found this site as a safer landing place for their ships, saving them from beating strong African winds, compared to the rest of the southern coast.Enter your text here...
